- The initial Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting – the MIAM
The mediation process starts with two individual confidential assessment meetings called a MIAM. These are separate and give a chance to understand the situation fully and answer any questions.
These cost £120 per person Online or £150 per person in the office in Camden Town.
- The Mediation Meetings
After the MIAM, assuming you both wish to proceed, mediation starts with you together in a zoom room online or in the room in Camden. After the MIAM, it is easier to know how many sessions may be required [somewhere between 3-7 for finance and 2-3 for children].
Each session, lasts 90 minutes and costs £140 per person per hour online or £170 per person in Camden office.
The cost for Children in Mediation is £150 for the hour, paid by each parent as £75.
In some cases, co-mediation is appropriate and this is charged at £180 per person per hour; a total of £270 per person per session.
There is also currently a government scheme which covers the first £500 costs of the mediation for child arrangement issues. If relevant, this can be applied for after you have both attended a MIAM.
- Output from Mediation
All mediations produce written summaries of the discussions in the meeting and the proposals created. There is no additional charge for the summaries.
If required, Financial mediation can produce a schedule of all your assets and liabilities, known as an Open Financial Statement (OFS), and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which sets out your proposals. These are then taken to a solicitor to create the Statement of Information (D81) and consent order for the divorce.
There is also a possibility of producing the draft consent order from the co-mediated mediation. This can be discussed at the MIAM.
The cost of the OFS is £150 per person and the cost of the MOU is £150 per person.
